Ester Hammond is Professor of Molecular Cancer Biology and a CRUK Senior Group Leader at the CRUK/MRC Oxford Institute for Radiation Oncology. She is Head of the Tumor Hypoxia Group, and her current research focuses on understanding hypoxia in tumors and finding new ways to target the hypoxic tumor areas to improve current treatments.
Ester completed her PhD at the University of Birmingham and continued into a post-doctoral position at University of Cambridge School of Clinical Medicine. She then moved to the USA to join the Department of Radiation Oncology at Stanford University, first as a post-doctoral fellow and ultimately as a research associate. In 2007, she joined the Oxford Institute as a CRUK junior group leader.
